    Angus Mackirk Explorer Sluice

Hi Kuskus, Good choice! I too have an AM Explorer. Good all rounder. You'll be happy with it. They're quite forgiving with flow & angle. I usually clean out & pan off after each bucket of 1/2 classified material put thru. Only coz it's so quick to do & gives your back a break from digging...

Update on the New, Compact Crusher

As long as there's no patent of copyright type thing on the design/idea, I don't think there's a problem. They look like a great tool tho!

Update on the New, Compact Crusher

Bugger. The generator i have is only rated at 850Watts & I was hoping to run it off that. My current 4&1/2" grinder is only 700Watts & the genny powers it no probs. Hmm... That throws a spanner in the works for me :(

    Bunnings water pumps

The pump I use is a 2stroke Mitsubishi with a 1" Koshin pump. I bought it second hand but the original owner bought it from bunnings about 5 years ago for around the $160 mark. Before anyone bangs on about 2strokes being noisy, these ones aren't as bad as some of the cheaper 4 stroke units...

Update on the New, Compact Crusher

I'm keen on one. I do have a couple of questions though. The grinder that comes with it, that still comes with the standard grinding attachments? My current grinder is sounding sad & is about 24yrs old... Also how many Watts is the grinder?

Balxies Gold adventures is hitting the road, Venues? Requests?

Sounds good Balxie. Looking forward as always to your vids. Golden Triangle area perhaps? Castlemaine, Chewton, Bendigo? Or head further into the Triangle.

    Highbanker angles

Adjustable is how you want it. From a steep angle to pretty well flat. For both your top & bottom sections. If you're trying to break up clay, you'll want the top hopper to be fairly level so your material has time to wash more. Cleaner gravels can use a steeper angle so the big stones slide...

River / Stream Sluices - advice, information and questions

Hey Mac, Seriously have a look at the MacKirk range of sluices - they're the beezkneez! Light, simple, fast to clean & catch ultra fine to large gold. Bad reviews on them are rare as rocking horse poop :D You can see straight away if you're onto the gold so most who use MacKirks dont even...

    Port drinkers

I got a 10L wooden "Tubbies" barrel 18months ago. Ports & muscats of all sorts have gone into it from $50 bottles to cask port. Great to see how it changes over time & after blending. No real favourites. Grandfathers is nice.

    Dollying gold from qaurtz.

I read somewhere you can make one of them tables with water running over them & either paint it with blackboard paint or line it with very fine wet'n'dry sandpaper. I'm going to give it a go as I'm fairly fast at panning but I haven't got much patience to get the very last of the fine sands out...

    Balxie's Gold Adventures videos.

Thanks for bunging up an other vid Balx. They keep the fever going for us that don't get to go out that often. I woulda thought Heartattack Track would have been too greasy to get up again? Obviously not. Nice looking colours you got :)

Fossickers / Prospectors - iPad / iPhone / Android App in development

This sounds like a great idea! Good on you. Pretty well what the others said. Layered mapping abilities (geo, historical, lease info etc. ). I'd be interested to try it & spread the word once released etc.

    Walco Prospecting Picks

I ended up with an CC Ezy Dig, small Pick $83 at Aussie Detecting in Bendigo. 600mm handle. Nice & light to swing it all day but heavy enough cracking open crevices with ease. Happy days

    Hand Tools

Sidchrome is my fave, but the old style ratchets is what you want - the kind with the slide pin to change from left to right. Not the weaker toggle switch/lever. Swap meets, garage sales etc. are the place to go for old school quality. Recently I got a new Kinchrome set & the ratchet crapped...

    Walco Prospecting Picks

I'm looking around for a pick too. I couldn't make out the name of one I used from a friend but recognize the Australian map sticker on yours. Walco/CC Pick can't quite make my mind up. Prolly much of a muchness? What made you go for this one Nug?
