    mig or tig or?

Back in my early days of self employment I'd weld up 2mm ally sheet all day for Shell Aust. with and Bog stock Mig running a nylon liner on the shortest tweeco hand piece I could buy. The liner has to run continuous from the contact tip to the wire feed rollers! The trick is to cut the oxidized...

Dome head cap screw bolt and nyloc nut straight through the chain link into the retaining plate.

    mig or tig or?

Ally Tig requires a machine that can weld in AC, you can buy AC/DC machines for tig but they are more expensive. Normal stick/tig machines are DC only, you can weld steel and stainless with these. I recently sold my ACDC 200amp tig for $600 coz I didn't use it enough to justify the cost of gas...

    Impact Mill Build

For what it's worth. I'd be inclined to use the stick welder on the shaft plates, the stick isn't as aggressive as the Mig. ie: doesn't cool as fast because the process is slower. I'd also tac both plates on as the opposite side will act as a strong back and alternate stitches side to side...

    Hip Sticks pro and cons?

Condor, those look like the way to go. I find my older standard harness almost useless around the waist.

Any thoughts on the feed chute design as that seems to be the biggest issue with these mills I hear?

Yeah I did read that Lambs, but you got to protect your self these days or people be suing the **** out of you. I do realise it's a get out of gaol free card if a customer doesn't turn up anything.

    Hip Sticks pro and cons?

I'm the type of guy that thrives on efficiency. So hip sticks are the worth it or just another piece of gear that gets hung up on snags walking through the bush?

    Garrett ATX gold finds

B00M! what are you saying Lambi? :P Just to clarify on the hi-lighted part, for the level 2 tour offered it's "you keep the first 10oz any Oz after that is split 50/50" So even at worst case of 1200AUD an oz that's 12000AUD less 10%, less your fuel, less $4000 tour fee. If you don't come out...

    Garrett ATX gold finds

Hey Matt, Just checked out your tour website and noticed you guys seem to be the only ones selling the education side of prospecting. How in depth do you go ie: would you teach people to do what you do? Also noticed your premium tour (level 2 I think) has a 50/50 split after the first 10oz ! I...

I didn't know they reopened. Last time I was there it was just about to go into CoM. I did a few contracts there when they were doing the drilling for the proposed new site, I don't blame you or anyone else for objecting to it blasting so close would shake your house to bits in weeks.

starting up /remining a old mine

The biggest issue in Vic as far as gold mining is concerned is towns were built on and around the gold fields. Take Stawell for instance, the mine went into care of maintenance because the remaining gold is too deep which requires all sorts of infrastructure to mine it the infrastructure is too...

starting up /remining a old mine

I've thrown the idea of opening up old sites here in vic just down the road from me for a while as well. Still haven't canned the idea completely. It seems to me that a more economical commercial option is to buy a current lease with at least a few years left on it in QLD, WA or even NT. Go...
