    Minelab SD2200 tips, settings, questions

It is really hard to say without testing, but I would say that as they are, they would most likely be noisy. There will be a lot of ripple from these and that needs to be reduced significantly before feeding it into a detector. Every detector from the 2200 onward will shut off / not turn on if...

    Minelab SD2200 tips, settings, questions

Hi Brad, Welcome to the forum! From memory, the sd2200 won't turn on if the voltage is over 7.6v. You won't blow it up as it has a power input protection circuit. So for a 7.4v lipo, you are going to need to reduce the voltage when it is fully charged. For the most part, you probably only...

    Nugget finder evo 14x9 Evolution

Every nugget is different. Just because someone gets a 1g nugget at say 8" doesn't mean all 1g nuggets will be picked up at 8". Some might only murmer when scraped across the coil, yet others if flat and solid enough and sitting right might come in a 10" It all comes down to the size/shape and...

    Gpx5k lcd questions

This is normal. The screen they use is also used in a sat phone or some such device. Don't know why they went that way, it is a very odd unique screen and not easy to get a replacement if your're not Minelab. Auman

    Cheap metal detectors

Hey Mike, since I'm such a good bloke, I will sell you one of my chinese knock off detectors that I was given, for a bargain price of $1200. That is cheaper than you can get them online. I will include express postage too. Other than that I hope my keystrokes were not wasted(they were on you)...

    Cheap metal detectors

Dude, I have worked on just about every model of Minelab PI detector and even reverse engineered a few for repair purposes. I have several chinese knock off minelab detectors here that people have given me over the years and I can 100% confirm that none of them come close. Most of them are just...

MINELAB F1A4 ex military metal detectors - tips, settings, questions

Ooops, that first line should read "does it do it without the coil connected". Also, I am happy to exchange the carrier and repair the detector instead if it is the detector. Is it an early 4XXXX serial number?

MINELAB F1A4 ex military metal detectors - tips, settings, questions

Hmmm, does it do it with the coil connected? If not, can you borrow a coil from a member on your side of the westgate? Do you have a multimeter? Can you check that when the detector is on with the coil connected that the battery voltage is above 3.7v? To do this, when you look at the battery...

MINELAB F1A4 ex military metal detectors - tips, settings, questions

Hi Mate, By the symptoms you describe it sounds like the battery carrier has failed. There is a power supply in the battery carrier that boosts the battery voltage up to 6v, and they fail. As long as the voltage of all 4 d-cells is above 3.7v, the detector should run fine. Keep an eye on ebay...

    Minelab SD2000 tips, settings, questions

Might not be what it was intended for, but that is how it works! Perhaps talk to Minelab about it, cause that was part of the original sd2000 battery/patch lead setup. There would be a reason that that part was used, we just have to figure out why.

    Minelab SD2000 tips, settings, questions

It is there to prevent overcurrent and or damage if one hooks up the battery the wrong way around. I think one time I had a short somewhere in my detector and I could hear it turn on briefly then shut off again after a second or 2 and a light clicking could be heard from the silver junction box...

    Modded GP3500 info?

Hi Mbasko, That looks like a Detectormods job to me. He was using those dial type adjusters during the last year or a bit longer. The gain is the front end gain. If you are having trouble ground balancing, back it off. I don't know where the standard gain setting would be. The hotter the ground...

MINELAB F1A4 ex military metal detectors - tips, settings, questions

I'd be trying them before selling, there is a pretty good chance all of those NF coils will work. I'd be surprised if the commander works though, once again, try it first. Worst case scenario, the detector settings should be able to be wound back to that of the level 2 and they all still work as...

MINELAB F1A4 ex military metal detectors - tips, settings, questions

Hey Mate, One thing that needs to be carefully considered for the level 3 is the coils you intend to use. To get the most out of the performance that the level 3 is able to provide, the coils have to be very "tightly" made, in that they need to be really spot on. The only coils I now can...

    Counterfeit/fake Minelab detectors and accessories

Look at the bumps in the handle grip, there are too many. This is common with the fakes. Also the arm cuff is too wide and short. The backlight also seems quite bright.
