righto.....I have played with the Kogan detector and to answer your question directly...you are wasting your time using it to find small gold. It will certainly find larger targets at or near the surface but I doubt you will be detecting in areas that may still contain them. On the positive side...

This seems like the smartest option....get someone off the forum to detect it for a %....then keep an eye on them!! No risk/outlay to you.

spot on. If you have the standard commander coils that came with the machine...start with them. There is almost no ground that a 5k and a 11" mono can't handle.

Hi Steete88, I am assuming your interested in the shiny bits in the quartz??? Can't tell 100% from the photo but looks like sulphides and not gold. You would need someone that can tell the difference to look at it through a loupe. Any geologist should be able to do that for you.

Minelab have always produced the best electronics and have always had rubbish 'accessories' ie: harness....headphones etc. There have been exceptions to this but...

Minelab has been consistant for that 30 odd years.....great electronics and crap everything else...headphones...backpacks..ergonomics....of course I'm generalizing but I think it's a fair point. You know what....I don't buy detectors for anything other than the control box. Not that many years...
