I'll take a stab and say iron rich quartz?
That's the stuff they go for underground. (if I am right!)

The rock in OP's second pic in particular has quite a fibrous look to it. Apparently asbestos is often associated with serpentine.

Second picture looks like the face has been smoothed up a bit on a grinding wheeel.

Hi Steete88,
I am assuming your interested in the shiny bits in the quartz??? Can't tell 100% from the photo but looks like sulphides and not gold. You would need someone that can tell the difference to look at it through a loupe. Any geologist should be able to do that for you.
