That is the question my friend! Do some research, you can never do too much. A good place to start is find a place that you can get to that has produced gold, look for what geology the gold has been previously found on and try and identify a pattern. Apply said pattern to the surrounding areas...

I found the higher the sensitivity the more erratic the machine became, it was driving me insane. With the sensitivity flat out i was digging holes that had no targets in them! It was picking up the mineralisation and when you did come across a target, it was blending into the erratic noises so...

These were the settings i used: Zero Mode Sensitivity on either 3, 4 or 5 depending on the ground, just try to keep it quiet. No Iron discrimination if you can help it, sometimes i would put the discrimination on 10 just to quieten it up a bit. Thats about it really! :Y:

Hey camlidd, The Garrett AT Max was the first machine I ever owned, it taught me a lot. I bought the machine to find gold in the W.A goldfields. Pretty simple machine. Turn it on, press the mode button until its on "zero", get the threshold right , turn down the sensitivity to around 4 or 5...

It was the first find in a week, I nearly back flipped all the way back to the ute hahaha

0.40g @ 5inches.

All i can add to this is you'll be digging really big holes. Its a bit heavy but definitely know you wont be missing much with this coil. I call mine the beast haha

Old post i know, but I have had a really good experience with the Coiltek 14v9 elite. The best find with it for depth was a 0.4g piece @ 5 inches in mild ground. Overall an excellent choice in my opinion :Y:
