Gold in Victorian streams illegal?

Hi all Im reasonably new to this whole prospecting game but I’ve hit a few of the well known spots but i want to start finding my own and i am struggling to find answers to some of the less clear laws in place in victoria.
First off if a creek or river doesn’t appear on the list of ”no go” zones then is it legal to prospect there irrespective of what land its on? for example if a creek flows through a national park not mentioned on the list of allowed national parks for prospecting then its off limits?
Secondly are you allowed to prospect on water frontage? Ive seen a lot of streams that have crown land around them but they are called “(name of stream) water frontage’’ on GeoVic, are you allowed to prospect in these areas/streams? Do you need permission from whoever (if anyone) has control or holds lease on these areas?

The short answer to both questions is no.
You can only fossick/prospect in Victoria National/State Parks in designated areas.
