I am pretty lucky as the missus does not mind me detecting. We did a trip a year and a half ago to some spots in Victoria sleeping in the back of a triton ute with a canopy on it, quite cold in winter though. She has had a knee replacement and it gives her hell when it is really cold.

We were lucky enough to get a good second hand van and vehicle to tow it and travelled to the Pilbara for a trip. Well 18 months on and surviving a summer of 46 - 47 degrees she still loves the outdoors, so we are still here.

She even managed to pick up part time work she is happy doing, however it interferes with me going on trips (only one car) for a couple of days or longer so can only get out on weekends.

This being said though I still get 4 to 5 hours to detect a day if I want so I am tickled pink.

My wife loves camping under the stars. Normally 5 of them above the sign at the motel.

My wife used to "squat" behind a bush and do the armpits n ******** facecloth wash. She still would if she could, she can still do the facecloth bit in leiu of a shower, but the MS has caused her to now need to pee in porcelain, lol.

Thank someone for the porta potti..............

PS Macka, send her to the Motel while you come out detecting = everybody happy....

my wife is a dragon. sits in her cave belching big clouds of smoke from her cig while dissembowling animals ect to boil down in her cauldron while roaring and bellowing at me all day... she loves it when I bugger off someplace to hide for a few days.. BUT she is my dragon and god help any other sheila that gets her goat by even looking at me. :D

My wife doesn't mind me prospecting and infact enjoys travelling. She will do a little fossicking but I doubt I will ever see her hands on a gold pan. She does like her creature comforts though. Camp? Maybe overnight but thats it. I'm thinking of buying a caravan and a portable shower. I think if I set it up so she can do her craft (Which is her hobby) in comfort then she would be fairly happy to go for a week or more.

Me. I'm happy to sleep in a swag for nights on end and quite often do. :D

Hey don't get me wrong. We camped in the motel and went digging for sapphires all day. I would dig and sieve and she did the sorting, a great team and still goin after 30 years.
Cheers

Well we're a couple who both love prospecting, hubby more than me but then he likes to get up earlier than me. We go off in the van at least once a month, sometimes twice. I do the morning stint with a cuppa & book in bed while he's out looking for the yella & then comes back for brekky & then we usually both go out. He has found heaps more than me but then that is the time he puts in
:) We also have good friends where the wife does patchwork while he detects & 2 other couples who both go out together all the time. We are all different hey, but that's what it's all about. It probably would be harder with kids though as they would need to be kept entertained. Give them a pan & let them get down & dirty ;)

Ha ha my partner tolerates it only because she has no choice, I'll head out when she's at work and she still gets the grumps. Apparently I care more a bout finding gold then her ( I replied with " not true, I also look for sapphires lol") needless to say it didn't go down well ha ha ah, she even gets crappy when I watch gold rush and all those shows. That is until I show her the gold then she's happy till next time I try to plan a trip ;)

LOL
That's interesting. She sleeps under the sign with the stars and you get the room to your self?
How much did you spend on the swag mate as I think that I could swing this one. PMSL

:p

My ex-husband was like that! That is not living!

I admire Wal n Liz as they seem to have that hunger for prospecting even though Wal loves the Gold and Liz loves the stones. Both different but can enjoy a hobby together. Most of us prospecting blokes would love to have that synergy, and sometimes I think gee I wish my wife wanted to come camping more often. Then I think of how many times shes set up the entire camp....she can pitch a tent 5 times faster than I can, with in minutes something is cooking on the wok in the fire...a fire she made while i'm panning or detecting. Snakes are no problem, shes happy to walk first. She sees a duck and asks me if she can catch it to cook tonight and I have to remind her that its probably not a good idea. Its only then I realize we have do have synergy after all. I just wish she liked panning as well as highbanking!
