I am pretty lucky as the missus does not mind me detecting. We did a trip a year and a half ago to some spots in Victoria sleeping in the back of a triton ute with a canopy on it, quite cold in winter though. She has had a knee replacement and it gives her hell when it is really cold.
We were lucky enough to get a good second hand van and vehicle to tow it and travelled to the Pilbara for a trip. Well 18 months on and surviving a summer of 46 - 47 degrees she still loves the outdoors, so we are still here.
She even managed to pick up part time work she is happy doing, however it interferes with me going on trips (only one car) for a couple of days or longer so can only get out on weekends.
This being said though I still get 4 to 5 hours to detect a day if I want so I am tickled pink.
