Came across it the other day.
The top had old looking tiles on top and underneath that a rusted thin sheet of metal.
The metal has rusted through sand underneath that. The metal detector goes crazy all kinds of signals over it. Im thinking to remove the rusted sheet metal top and then wave detector over again.

So any ideas what this is about.
In the bush. Off the sand dune. Dense bush not any paths around.

Im just trying to think what possibly lays under there.

May be hard to tell from the pics but its approx 1.5m diametre. Circular. A lot of pieces of what looks like white broken tiles thats been placed in a circle. Sheet metal on top which hss rusted brittle breaks easy and then broken tiles on top of that. Been there for ages i think. Not sure how long. Possibly the first to stumble over it since it was placed there.

Looks like a galv. tank. tiles might have been to warn off. I wouldn't dig it out, but you can if you like. :D

make sure that you can't fall into it as you dig it up, just in case it is a cover for a bush well(druggies water for their crops).

I would inspect, even jut out of wanting to know...

But with a good mate and a long pole....

And if any digging, a long handle shovel.

PS. Make sure you mate has the video camera rolling the whole time... You face and or reactions might be the best catch of the day LOL.

Found an old well that looked similar, the local cockie had just coverd it to stop loosing his sheep :|
Could be anything really, buried treasure, cache of weapons, (in that case id be checking for trip wires ) or just a bitta junk left by someone...............im intrigued now 8)

I'd like to know what it is now too thanks dwt. Could be lots of things just be cautious and put it back the same way when ya done.
oh and post what the results are good or bad.

And if it be a good find then tell us about your trip to the pub afterwards too,...and show us the pickies(haha)

Could be a grave :) sheet metal put over it to stop the scavengers making a meal of someone's dear departed pet :|

See if there is an old bullet shell about 15 meters away,....I may just have a theory manifesting.

I would check it carefully ( in case its a deep well ), and inspect inside. It could even be an old drop dunny, depending on how old it is, there may be no poo nuggets left in there, but possible jewelry and relics

Ok thanks for your input. I am intrigued. What i did realise is. The metal on top is just a lid. It is no tank. I plan on removing the lid and seeing if the detector picks anything up. If its a cache of weapons that would be cool. Better yet some kind of treasure. Otherwise may just be a buried pet. But surely if it were and lid removed shouldnt give off any readings. Unless a collar.

Havent given up yet. Its a bigger job than i thought. 2 metres diametre. Definitely not a pet unless it was a elephant. Waiting for a friend to get back to inspect thouroughly
