I have found this bank which has many levels within it, some of which are what looks to be an old river bed of some sort.

What do you guys with more experience then me reckon?
See picts
I have taken a sample bag of loose dirt from along the length of the wall to pan when I buy 1 later today.

sample sample sample :) I always look for a red line and test that first them round rocks, they only get that way by form of tumbling so sample away :)

Looks interesting but very difficult to get at? Does it come away easy or is it like concrete?

Peter

Look for any rock bar features in the line of rubble, example in the second photo on the bottom left, there is a crevice, notice the material changes here also.. I would be chipping out the crevice.. Also the top phot near the just left of the middle is a nice looking crevice,
I would also be taking out the bottom of the pebble wash line, as close to the harder rock below.

Good luck mate,

BTW it looks like Kangaroo point.. been a long time since I was climbing those cliffs.. memory banks are fading on that spot

Cheers, Tone

Video looks good, I would check around that tree root, looks like a nice drop in there. Good luck with this one mate.

Cheers Tone

Hey Joe
A wide shot photo may give a little more info on your spot.
You need to ask yourself, if you sample the wash layer in the wall & get "Gold" good gold, are you prepared to follow the lead or can you? if you have to answer no then a sample is pointless, remember no undermining, not sure on the amount of overburden there is there.
You need to have an idea where you will head with your digging if you get good colour, before you get started.
Good luck.
cheers
Lee

Be careful on this one. That looks like a concrete footpath in the video and there is some kind of steel grate there it looks like it might be a Brisbane City council property i.e. kangaroo point cliffs or riverside walkway. I would not be taking anything from those sites even with a fossicking license without someone's permission to do so.

It's on private property
And the owner has just said I can sample It and whatnot. So I'm only going to use it as practice and exercise to learn what to look for in the field. I bought a pan yesterday (finally) and will test the sample I took yesterday. I showed the video to the guys at the shop as well and they pointed out where the best spots to sample from are.
Btw thanks to the guys at Brisbane Gold they gave me so much useful info. It's good that the guys who sell the gear actually use it in their off time

Not all creeks or old riverbeds have gold in them. It would be cool to sample, but if it's part of your friend's garden feature it would be a shame to wreck it - esp if you get no colours at all.

Very interesting wall. To find something like that in the scrub would be cool.

Is there history of gold in this particular area where that wall is?

Not sure on the history of the place without going back and reading the old newspaper archives.

I took some more samples this morning from down at the bed rock at different spots and used my classifier to sift it down to 3mm cons.
I will pan tonight.
Magnet test reveals blank sand.

Whether it has gold or not, it's a good exercise for me and practice my panning.
Judging by the amount the quartz is crushed and all, if there is gold it will be more then likely to be flour gold.
So after I have panned it, I'm more then willing to let someone here inbrissy who has a better machine, bluebowl etc that's suited for flour gold better then a pan to have a go at it.

Panned away and didn't find anything, but what can you expect from such a small surface sample for the first time I have panned in probally 15yrs lol
Lots of nice looking stones though, I've got a small pink quartz sitting in front of me, about 2x3mm as I classified anything bigger out this morning at the site. But I have 1.5kg sitting in the bottom of my recovery tub in the garage which I will go through again when i have more time and pick out those perty look'n stones.

But offer still open for anybody whith more advanced equipment and experience then I do who wants to run my sample again, maybe give me some pointers and teach me how to pan properly.

Still, I would appreciate some hnads on tutoring, as watching 100 different youtube vids, only teach you 100 different ways to pan :p
