I'm thinking something like that may fit into the detector battery compartment. Would give the volt boost i want and a full days running, if they prove to be reliable id modify the detector to run on them full time.

Well done Daz you always come up with the goods, let us know how that works out, heaven knows we need something, That should give a good 10-12 hours maybe more,

Well done mate,

john

After a bit more thought and some measurements i'm thinking i can mount them on a piece of perspex to make it like a normal drop in pack with no mods to the detector, Will keep you all updated and maybe make a "how to video" of it on youtube. Now i just need to wait for it to arrive from china...lol

These are the 18650 batteries I was thinking of, 3.6v, 3400maH, not sure if 4 of them would be ok or how long they would last.

I use these 18650 batts's in my electronic cigarette and when they come of the charger they are at 4.2v so you may want to charge them as a pack. Their is a guy on another forum using 8 of them shrink wrapped together and it fits inside the spp / tdi sl.

It's the last post on that page and has some pictures

Fellas, this is a good post. I read what Reg had to say about this and the extra voltage is a real plus to keep the performance of these models at an optimum.

I hope you will configure something of a 'plug and play' design; so that those of us who aren't tekkies will be able to buy one from you.

With the sticker on that battery pack with the 8x 18650 batteries, it looks like it was available to purchase from somewhere.
I wonder if the bloke still uses the whites detectors & that battery pack, it was only just over 12 months ago he posted the pics.

Cool Mate, If this starts to cost a Quid let me know and I will split the costs with ya and you can be the Test Pilot,,
because I ended up with about 70+ AA's and this might eat in to ya wallet,

I know I'm a bit of a whiner, but it would be nice if White's would listen to their customers and users like Dilek does over at Nokta. This battery issue would have been done and dusted a year ago.

The battery issue is such because the machine was made to do a certain task and like most things people wish to make them do other things like longer run times when really its just a matter of changing battery packs, I have mine running 6.5 hours but to me 8 to 10 would be cool, but with my VLFs I don't really think about the battery life because they run for up to 60 hours or more and that spoils us to a degree, Where as PI's can and do eat batteries.

I'm guessing that he rehashed a tdi pro battery pack.

OK. I didn't join the dots on the connection between the VLFs (being light on power) and the way PIs draw the power. I get it now.

Thanks John.

OK, have just spoken to Reidman in Hampton in Virginia. He can't post the unit with batteries because Oz is regarded as an 'Hazardous' region. So anything with batteries in it is prohibited.

So I said I'd put up an expression of interest for someone to put their hand up to be the dog-boy to assemble batteries into the unit when they are sent here.

The deal will go something like this: An order for (for example) five units or more is made. All money paid upfront, as per usual and the units are then sent to the tekkie and he is paid per unit to do the battery assembly.

Reidman says all instructions will be included as to the assembly requirements. But is basic work for the likes of RR and co.

We may be able to get a discount for volume. Currently the price is $139US. $194 Oz money. Ouch!

I'm in for one. Any other takers.

Well There is a cheaper way and that is to import that chip board and the cases with the charger because you can get the batteries off the net and that might save a quid, and do away with any import problems,
