A mayor has “ supposedly” been caught drunk driving but the Police say it will be days before a blood test result is available. Well, how come on the cop shows they do a test in a van and if positive you are in the courthouse the next day. FFS , one rule for some and not for others.

I don't think it is being discriminatory. It varies by State but "in Victoria (and in all other states in Australia) a blood sample can be ordered by the police or it can be obtained privately by the driver. If, straight after a positive breath test, a driver wishes to have a blood sample taken and tested they should advise the police officer of that. The police officer must then arrange to be present with them at the doctor or medical facility of the driver’s choice within the specified time limit (3 hours in Victoria) of the event that led to the need for a blood sample".

And then it depends on the chosen laboratory how long the test results take to be returned (the 3 hour limit only relates to the taking of the sample not return of the results). Overseas that can be more than a month, but is typically days in Australia.

A lot of people do not seem to take advantage of this - anyone can demand it. But if you know you are way over you only add to your costs.

Maccka the test in the van is not a blood test, it’s a breath test. In SA blood tests are performed by medical practitioners not the police.

I'm going to have a whinge about the lack of coverage on mainstream media on overseas news here in Australia apart from American news. For instance there is a major war brewing between Russia and Ukraine, Tens of thousands of troops and armoury being moved into place atm on both sides. China is threatening Taiwan, Israel just torpedoed a Iranian ship. But our media want to talk about Covid 19 etc. Like we are mushrooms. Cant upset people can we now ? Just saying.

This sort of world wide agro went on throughout history but fortunately we didn't get to know about it. If it wasn't for the wide spread media coverage these times the whole world would look a lot better in most peoples eyes.

I for one am happy to bury my head in the beautiful Cue desert sand and go on without the Russians, Chinese, Americans, Covid infections or any other negative propaganda. It's a beautiful world for us who choose to see it that way.

I suspect that is true of most people with this interest. I find most detectorologists still content even when they have got little on a trip. In fact a drive in my Pajero, a walk in the bush and I feel like I have had a long holiday. Even if I am angry with someone it seems to fade away.....

Yes the media give us a reason to winge. Most of the time it's not facts but a journalist's opinion, and we pick it up and run with it

Ugh. The auction for the detector I'm selling finished on Ebay last night, the winning bid is clearly a bot or some other illegitimate account (a year old but only activity in last 3 months, random profile picture, feedback score of just 3 all from the same store with the same comment). If I cancel the transaction before waiting out the 4 days or so they have to pay, which I doubt is happening, I can get dinged for that. Wouldn't care too much but I've got an offer on to waive my selling fees that runs out within that 4 days. I think I'll give it today and then just take the risk anyway...

The lack of action to prevent foot and mouth entering Australia, the government should have a blitz advertising campaign, can anyone imagine the impact , no milk , no meat , no hope of rebuilding Australia's livestock. The day it officially hits our shores all livestock transport will be prohibited, if you have some spare cash and an empty freezer I would start stocking up on your favourite cuts imo.

Possible preventitive steps,
Ban re entry from affected countries
Sterilise or destroy footwear and any soiled items
Atleast start an education program on all flights.

The most scary possibility that was mentioned to me by one of nsw biggest dairy farmers is, it will be purposely brought in to push people onto non animal made milk and meat products. Far fetched maybe but never say never with crazed vegan activists.
