G’day mate. I haven’t been up Emerald way but from my experience, I carried a few sieves and the one I always fell back on was my old 1/8 brickies sieve and that way you get the bigger ones and the kids can have a great time looking for the smaller ones.

when doing the first sieve of the wash i only use the 1/8" mesh and sieve into a 40 litre rubber pale from bunnings ,it makes it easier to remove the wash when it is time to wash the wash
i put the two sieves together 1/4"on top 1/8" underneath and put 4 heaped scoops of a gold scoop per wash and use a willoughby to do the hard work
i find that the 4 scoops are pretty well perfect and not overloading the sieves and makes the process go a lot easier
