So I went for a day trip to Thanes Ck on Saturday and have found some superfine heavy grey stuff in each pan.
It's heavier than the small amount of black sand and I was hopeful someone here knows this stuff.
We found 7 specs in 1 test pan but that turned out to be the exception & not the rule unfortunately.

i did a trip up there maybe last year? cant remember now time has been flying past, if you had a pictuire to put up i might be able to help. probably tin form the granite mate

Most likely tin. If it were pyrite from ore you were crushing from inside a mine it would be a different story but your panning..

You may find a blob that looks like solder ..then its certainly tin.

A photo would certainly help

Is it metallic or flat colored?

Thanks for the input gents and I'll add a photo if I can get a decent one that shows it. It is not in blob form but very granular/talcum powder but pewter in colour.
