Back in 2010, a lucky prospector found a holey dollar at Hill End with a 705, so there is always hope!

Others have been reportedly found used as a tap washer on a tank, as a washer on a clothes hoist, and raked up out of a gravel driveway!

We have had this topic before, and I think I mentioned the Adelaide Pound as a candidate for the ultimate Australian find. I don't know whether one has ever been found with a detector.

I found a 1942 amour peircing shell casing up in Broome . 1942 being the same year of the WW2 Broome air Raid by the japanese .
Could have been fired on the day but could have been surplus set off at a later date . Still pretty cool tho

Not sure if it was just talk but a bloke in the GT allegedly found 3 gold sovereigns and some nuggets in a diggers lost cache.
He damaged on of the sovereigns in the dig that reduced its value :( :(
that would do me I think.

I would record all the info to keep with it, the where and who and how etc, to prove provenance, one day the info on where everything happened may come to light proving your piece as an authentic aussie war find from our soil.

Here's a few crackers to look for; 1921/22 overprint three pence
1916 I a half penny
1923 b half penny
1920 penny
1930 a penny as already said
1933/34 three pence ,I think it is an overprint coin but not sure
1942 three pence, not great but worth more as a coin than scrap, not s mint marked
shillings 1910 1911 1912 1913 1915 1915 h 1921 1924 1933
Not all are worth a million but rare nice coins, The three pence at the top I thought I found that is why it is first and I stopped at shillings as I haven't found a florin yet :(
1800's coins are rare and worth good money
If you like coins you should invest in an AUSTRALIAN COINS AND BANK NOTES POCKET BOOK GUIDE.

Here's one to cheer you up when digging 2c pieces, I have 2 from an old coin jar I had from years ago, 1 1966 & 1 1967.
The coins are missing the designers stamp SD beside the claw, has become collectable but also can be a defect coin, very valuable, the defect is on the back and the more the head is off centered the more valuable it is, so check your 2c pieces before copper scraping :)
Check all 1960's coins.

In order to find true riches, you must first find yourself

Just when I think I have success, I turn a new page and start all over again ;)
