Are you in a hurry to offload it. If not why don't you hang on for a while until you're settled in and then decide if you still want to keep it. Don't think it'll hurt the resale value too much. Gotta love that about Minelab products.

No rush mate. Just thought i'd get some views from members whether it was any good for the beach. Nothings final yet that we are heading down that way but always interested to hear others views.
Yeah, they are such a great machine, i doubt they wouldn't have a good resale value if and when i do decide to sell.

The sdc 2300 has the salt settings for that very reason, salt beaches .
Yeah, i realise that Uncle Bob, what i was hoping to get are members opinions on whether the sdc is as good as or better than other detectors for the salt and sand and if so which ones? Any thoughts, do you chase gold in the scrub or treasure along the beaches?

Mate if you are serious about selling it Id look at a ctx3030 for beach and gold. They are around $2500 new no doubt someone will have one on sale after boxing day. But that sdc2300 is a different beast and you'll miss is if you move on. Remember anything can be learnt and you would have that sdc running great on the beach in no time.
Theres certainly gold within koowee of philip island but if you plan on spending more time fishing i can imagine $3k sitting there not being used would do your head in.

When I had my sdc 2300, I used it for gold and the beaches.
It does punch deep on the beaches but has no discrimination.
So if there's way too much rubbish....... You know what I mean.
If I were you I'd go to down to a couple of beaches and test it out for yourself to get the feel for it. All this info can be mind boggling and can even get you to make the wrong decision.........

I probably won't be doing more fishing mate (that would almost be impossible  ), but no doubt i'll be back up in the mountains (hiking etc) more because they are so much closer if we do move down that way. If there's detectable (shallow) gold within cooee of the island i'll just keep the 2300. If i'm going to keep detecting and other good (beach) machines are around the $2000-$2500 mark then i'd just keep the 2300 and use it. :)

Yeah, good advice Uncle, I'd be in no rush to sell it anyway so i'd take it and see how it goes if we do move down there.
