Have been an avid reader all my life, and have read a pile of books on gold, but two of the most memorable books that come to mind are,
Midnights Children by Salman Rushdie. I've read most of his books, but this was his first and most brilliant work. Wonderful wordsmith.
Love in the time of cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. An epic tale of obsession on the wild and mighty Amazon. Unforgettable.

Because of this thread I went through my spare bedroom wardrobe and found River of Gold by Hector Holthouse which I am now rereading.
That's great to hear Sacredsite, :Y:

I recently got onto this awesome magazine, I first read through one in the physio's waiting room.
It's content is so interesting. Great reads, so I subscibed.

I was reading immediate action by Andy Mcnab while out bush, then I read the swarm. And I just picked up hot money the other day so I'm about to start on that.

For those who missed it last year, Lifeline Illawarra Big Book fair is on again this Friday Saturday and Sunday

"Lifeline's October 2018 Big Book Fair, taking place at the Illawarra Sports Stadium in Berkeley between 9am and 5pm on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th October and between 9am and 4pm on Sunday 21st October.

We aim to have 80,000 books sorted and packed by our hard working volunteers which will be displayed in more than 50 categories. As usual, there will be something there for everyone, no matter what their interest may be: fiction; non-fiction; reference; hobbies; travel; childrens books; art; science; literature; history; biographies; old, rare or just interesting.

Entry is by a gold coin donation and eftpos is available for purchases."

On Sunday all the books are half price and if you go late on Sunday afternoon (After 2pm) you can fill up a bag of books for $20.

Back on topic though, I just finished reading The Sisters Brothers by Patrick DeWitt and about to start reading A Million Wild Acres by Eric Rolls.

Even for a reference book, $49.95 is outrageous for a soft cover book these days - and postage is out of control too. Sometimes it's more than the item being purchased. And considering the postal service has gone to the dogs lately (delivery only every 2-3 days), you'd think their service would have improved with the rising cost.

Australian Heist by James Phelps. The story of the Eugowra gold robbery.77 kg of gold and cash taken by Frank Gardiner,Ben Hall,Johnny Gilbert and a few others.
