What are some great gold detecters for under $250

Correct. I'm working my way up the scale. Have got a TDI-SL on the way then probably might consider the GPX 4500. However, time will tell.

An old Whites Goldmaster 2 might be in your price range, these are built like a tank and will still take any coil currently available for the GMT. Would be a lot better than any ebay cheapy.
