Yesterday we were belting along with our mind set on leaving Victoria when this little guy crossed our path.

Mrs M jumped out quickly and ushered him off the road before a stream of trucks and cars turned up from both directions.

He ended up on the side he originally left from so after putting on the gloves we helped him across the road :)

Great pics and good timing. Ive got a local Echidna that crosses the road regularly every summer out the front . I've had to don the gloves a few times to help it out. I had the first Blue tongue I have seen up here in 29 years get hit by a car a couple of weeks ago. I saw the car drive past, so I was 20 seconds too late to save him. So it was buried in our front yard. Road kill sux... I've rescued quite a few tiny baby possums from the pouch of their dead mothers over the years as well. It doesn't take much to help'em out.
Good work Mr & Ms MB :D

The good karma would have been flowing , Did you wave the detector around the ground in the picture ?

The old timers used to say " if you seen two echidnas going uphill there's a good chance of rain in three days ".

Beautiful pics I'm sure the little bugger is grateful you came along even if he doesn't know it.
