keen to make some basic iron too but will need to refine it and add other alloys to it wanta make it into 2 round flat plates with a solid round bar in the middle this will be hopefully for my homemade waterwheel with the shaft will be solid steel/iron and the round plates on both ends of the solid bar will serve as plates I can attach wood to with bolts into the wood + steel plate as a base/frame for the whole waterwheel.

here's a recent video of obtaining the raw iron oxide mineral from underground you can find it anywhere really e.g. ironstone hot rocks most rusty looking rock but this is a finer purer form than in solid rock and no crushing is needed to extract the iron oxide

but here's an update on the water powered trommal currently building a frame for it still haven't gone to the local tip to get the scooter wheels yet but each time I go there I take more junk home than I drop off lol

Gday HTY,
Thinking of the washer machine destruction.. You could save the water pump impeller and housing and run a 1 inch piped water into it and spin a smaller shaft or motor..
Occasional_panner you have an eye for re purposeing, love to see what the end results are of this spark of engineering HTY.

Cheers RR

Water wheel hydro /power has been around quite a while, a mate has used one in a commercial operation for as long as I can remember. So no need to reinvent the wheel so to speak just research. I like your other thoughts :Y: keen to see how you get on.

been busy with work still on idle but will be getting into it soon also looking at getting parts for the waterwheel stamper but need a creek I can set it up on semi permanent.
