I've heard that capacitor banks used on any electrical motors reduces extra power used on start up.... was supposed to be something to do with the capacitors charging slowly but supplying start up power verses just the start up power onnits own and how the two affected the power metre differently.

I always look at the power lines and just see a big circuit with power going into your home and then back out.... I'd like to either keep it all or charge the power company for what they take back from my house (does it get used again somewhere else ? ). I know it doesn't dissapear down the esrth wire that's for sure. :p

yeah I thought scam, aint nothing that I know of that can reduce power consumption when its in parallel or being piggy backed... in series yes thats another story.

This is why I raised the post. Its obvious there are tech vulnerable members here on PA that need protecting from the ***** side of society, as in this instance... PA needs to ban the entity who ran the advertisement.

edit..
Did a bit of digging, turns out Google ran the add, no doubt they'd claim innocence through autonomy

A old mate of mine ( not too tech savvy ) was so convinced about them that he just had to buy one.... had to really twist his arm to talk him out of it.
Those advertisers/ promoters should get a good kick up the arse for pushing these sort of gimmicks.
