Can someone please confirm, one way or another.

I have a book that states that, in the main, Victorian Gold Reefs run about 4 deg west of north to 4 deg east of south and that they lean coming out of the ground to the east.

An acquaintance has stated that from these reefs the gold mainly sheds to the west. My book "The Golden Ointment states that the reefs shed to the East.

So the question is East or West ?

This is a very generalized statement about reefs as many do not meet these standards.
Also a lot of richest parts of the reefs eroded into vast paleo channels which were then uplifted and have since weathered again into more recent channels. Meaning the gold could literally be spread in any direction.
There are similar theories of which direction reefs shead in WA, taking into account the direction the ice retreated during past ice ages being a large contributor to the movement of surface material. Giving us yet another variable, easy to see why you often hear the phrase 'gold is where you find it'.

Its perhaps a starting point, bit liking saying all cars in the last 30 years can do a 100km an hour if i can paraphrase. An area in Vic i go to they run east west orientation, had the old timers scratching their heads for a while I'll bet. , yet two isolated smaller mines ran traditional north south, so i guess figuring it out is always going to be a challenge, the proof only coming after its been mapped or dug.
