Minelab V8 & V12 Vanquish coil protectors?

I bought a Vanquish Pro kit a month or so back.

How do coil protectors work?

I noticed the base part of the coil may pull off an separate. Are they meant to be sacrificial or do Minelab do covers for them?

As a novice I'm a bit of a scrub basher.

The base part your seeing that should pull away from the coil is the coil cover.
They are sacrificial & you can get replacements from dealers.
