I've got a few days off over the Easter period but the wife is working so I'm hoping to get out for a day trip or possibly an overnighter to do a bit of a recon trip into the gold fields looking at access, camping and for when my TDI SL is in my possession in a few weeks time.
Q. Is it worth taking the MXT Pro along for a detect??
I've often read that the VLF's are no good in hot ground and I'm new to the central Vic gold fields, I've got a few Dough Stone and John Tully maps and will probably pick up some more before I go.
The closer to Ballarat or Castlemaine the better if it's a day trip as I'll be coming from S/E suburbs of Melb.
Q. Are there any general areas that would be less hot than others and better suited for the MXT Pro to run, I've got the 12" concentric and 10x6" Eclipes DD coils.
As I said, I'm just itching to get out searching for future reference but would like to spend a few hours detecting too if I get the chance, not expecting to find gold but happy to clock up some hrs getting to know this machine better.
Any suggestions appreciated, even if it's one that I'll be wasting my time taking the VLF.
