Traveling To NSW for Labor Day

So I got myself a TDI Pro Oz and am looking at Labor day weekend for a camping trip.Am looking at Beaury State Forest. Traveling from Hervey Bay Qld, it's a bit over 5 hours. I don't have a 4WD. I have purchased a NSW license. Just after advice. Are the tracks on the western side accessible via a 2WD and has anyone had any luck there? Total noob on hunting yellow. Picked this area as it's the closest with what looks like maybe a fair chance( if lucky enough).
