Yep Calder was awesome in its day (even if it was a bit barren and windy out there)....
Some may remember Tommy Watts, had a garage in Williamstown, used to build and race RR Merlin powered jet trucks and boats..... can't remember but think died during a run (may be wrong, was a LONG time ago).
Used love the drags and hydroplanes when the Griffith Cup (Stampede, Miss Bud etc) was run out at Eppalock.

One guy with a jet powered truck did die in a test run . He was giving it a test run on a Victorian country road , from what I remember .
