Hi Gary,
I did some detecting a couple of years ago on a few 40e`s. About 80k`s south and a bit west.
I targeted Hardy and Mount Roe Basalt conglomerate formations. I did well but not big nugs but many small seed like gold. If I had a hand Pneumatic drill and a small generator I would have tripled my yield. Hard conglomerate and I left a lot still in situ just too hard to hand chisel. I was there in October and it was hotter than Hades.
One camp I shared the only tree for miles with a bee hive, I think they were thankful for the water they got from me so they didn`t attack.
Tom Price is a beautiful place and an oasis but move away from T/P and it`s unforgiving country.
I wish you good luck. Nev

Yes it's a nice town tp
Do you go out on the nanutarra Rd to get to hardy
Very wet up here at the moment and muggy
Cheers Gary

Hi Gary, yes South on Nanutarra and a little south of Rocklea then west.
That is the area I was in and if you have access to geological maps for around that area look for Mount Roe Basalt and Hardy formations.

My brother used to go detecting on Rocklea Station as did a lot of his mates who worked for Rio Tinto, they all found plenty of gold and not just small stuff, go to the pub and get some info from the locals.

Try E47/4779,E47/4699 and e47/4795 they are all pending, we got quite a lot of small stuff some years back, E47/3790 is pretty flogged and active but has lots of scrapes in the norther corner but again flogged for any surface gold as the grey nomad brigade abslutely flogged it during covid, was 10 vans scattered all through there in 2021, we spent a month there for just over 30 grams in one creek, you really need a quad bike there as well as really rough going, station is via gates and you need there permission also it was owned then Rio.

neville, If you had a pneumatic drill and small generator you'd have broken the rules. We're only allowed hand tools, nothing electric or pneumatic. In many cases a good quality hammer and chisel (with safety glasses) will do a better job anyway.
