Bloody hell the weather today was havoc so a big day got postponed. Instead I went Bush with a pan a shovel waterproof clothing and boots and got a couple kms under the belt sampling and test panning up a few gullies for a big push in a couple of weeks. Pounded out 60 pans in three hours (including walking) got a few nice results that need further investigation. Picked up 0.8 for the day

Which included this little one at 0.15 who's brothers and sisters will go through the banker

I love making the best of an ordinary day and despite a few duffer pans these couple of gullies should keep me entertained fora while yet.

Sure did mate, carry a camera phone with me wherever I go, a few happy snaps of the gold and the spot just to be sure I'm putting the shovel in the right spot when I go back. Along the way I collect up odd looking stones and place the At the base of the trees nearest to the spot so I can be confident I'm in the right area if it floods or gets dug out.
I knew putting the shovel in I'd get that little nugget it was the perfect spot and I was tempted to just stop and pan that spot but I like to have something to go back to. I think it pays to read watercourse the length and breadth then come back and hit the places where the pay streak is at its richest. Where that little guy came from its where the gully intersects another older buried course right on the inside bend with big gravels that have fallen out as the course widens and draws to a flat section. I have dreams about finding spots like that in a gully, as would any alluvial Hunter. As far as perfect conditions go that's pretty close. Two more pans put about 30 colours in the pan including some of those with a bit of body. It takes time to find but I'm really excited by the results there would be ten times that to be dug out yet.
