Hi all,

I went to a nearby showground for a swing this afternoon and found these in a couple of hours. They include a 1944 penny, 1951 halfpenny, 1926 sixpence, 1917 threepence and 1944 threepence:

I have a question for fellow coinshooters also using the AT Gold: do you dig all targets in the 60s? I seem to dig up only pulltabs in that range, so I've been sticking to 70+, high-tone targets.

Hey mate, I use a AT Gold

Yeh I defo dig up all targets 60 above, A gold ring can read 60 dependent on depth upto 70, I found a 9ct gold ring 6inches down and it bounced between 65 and 70 .. Ring pulls can read between 60 - 70 also so best dig all targets mate, its annoying I know but its good finding junk so when you do find something cool its more exciting lol

Thanks Danmuss,

I've been doing some showgrounds where there are plenty of beverage stands. Unfortunately every single of the dozens of targets in the 60s I've dug has been a pull tab. I might dig a few hundred up to see if I get lucky, or it might be better to perhaps save that range for parks without drink stands...

Thanks for the cheat sheet, I have a laminated copy I take with me, which I've been adding to.

AT Gold user here too.. Nuggett's list is pretty accurate however in the sand I have picked up gold jewellery down in the mid 40s so keep an eye on signals between 43 and 48, I always dig 5c coins just incase. And remember that clumps of mineralization or nearby junk around a target can change the signal number or confuse the AT Gold giving a jumpy signal number. In the 60's range you can usually tell a pulltab because the tone and number can be inconsistent.

Hope this helps.

It never ceases to amaze me how the coppers come out of the ground as a dirty green lump, and yet the silvers come out like they fell in yesterday.
