See ... While we've all been on here posting and boasting , Silvers been out digging and now grinning :p

This has got to be one of my all time great hunts,... if any of you know what eight pearls means, then this is it,... photos probably don't do it justice(the way I take them).

This is how it came out of the ground,.. just a quick rinse off.

The plug peeled back and about 1 inch below the surface lay that 1927 Florin(eight pearls) looking up at me,... waiting for me since the day it was struck. I was in love straight away(don't tell Mrs Silver),... in case she throws it away in a jealous rage !

That's the eight pearls on the headband of the crown, two either side of each diamond,.... that means that it had no wear and tear at all since the minting process finished,... as the eight pearls are the highest points on the coin, they are the first things to wear off and thus the high grades of the old coins are counted by the pearls left showing to see how worn the coin is,... I'm excited ! That is a great coin to find.

That collector of varieties would have to pry it from my death grip PabloP(ha),... I wouldn't have noticed it but for that discerning eye of Wallys(discovery credit must go to Wally69 if it turns out to be an unknown variety).

Is that a die fault on the '62 or did the kangaroo ***** itself when it saw daylight for the first time in 50 years?

While quite a few 3p's have die cracks and faults, likely due to the thinner coins, I believe that there are less in the 6ps, so a collector of varieties may be interested in that 6ps.

Thanks fellas, one day I will get it restored and graded,.... Just don't want to touch it myself at the moment !

Regarding the Florin, the following is an extract from the Blue Sheet that may assist with your understanding of its value as it provides the weight as 11.31 grams.

Your weight is likely to be very close to that as it is in excellent condition. Value will be more than the bullion value, but unlikely to be more than 2 to 3 times that value.

A great one to have in your finds collection.

Gotta keep that patina on TM, that way it will still be a $1000-$2000 coin someday.

Electrolysis n some bicarb will clean her up minto. Unless you want to leave the patina on

Will just have too see what it turns into oneday after it gets cleaned up PabloP,... they still don't know how many coins of what years were destroyed in the big melt down.

Hi silver'
Here's a MS62 1927 Florin on sale at the moment

Don't wish to put a damper on your joy but a coin that's been in the ground will never achieve a MS grading. It's still a great coin.
PCGS and NGC will never grade a coin that's been clean in anyway. Nor will it get slabbed it would be returned to you in a body bag.
cheers db

Oh well,... Thanks Deep blue, I think I will just enjoy it the way it is then, how much were they asking for that MS62 1927 florin, just so I know what I'm not getting(ha).

Hi Silver,
It's all yours for $950 nice price for a great coin.
Here's the link.

Coin Collectors are very particular about the condition of their coins and the grades. Especially when paying a lot for the coin. The higher the grade the more value is placed on the collection.
Still you have a great coin that will fill a vacant place in your collection.
cheers db
