hey goldigga
congrats on the bub, :D
i always found that the eaisest way to get mine asleep, on those hard nights, was to wack them in the car and go for a drive, or put them into a backpack and go for a walk, wish i had the gold bug back then, as it might have given me a destination to head for instead of just going around in circles
anyway
may the future be blessed for bubs, you and mum
kind regards
boyd

Not quite as impressive as Golddigg@'s effort, but I was pretty happy none the less, congratulations BTW as well mate :)

In short I am a hoarder and very rarely throw out anything, I have bits and pieces everywhere and the missus is always saying what are you keeping this for and why ! The usual answer is, well it may come in handy some day !

She really struggles though when I keep things like this -

But to me one day it will have a purpose again... perhaps.

So after a few days of working on the floor connecting Anderson plugs and soldering and making a mess, then realising I couldn't move because I have been hunched over for hours. I needed a solution.

Hmm what about the old BBQ that may work, so I started the project of converting my old BBQ into a work bench. First job rip off everything and keep what is worthwhile of course :) side benches are coming off also.

Now a quick mock up to see if it would work - BTW this fell over in a windy night and my daughter was devastated, she said to Mum, Dad put so much work into that now look at it :(

Yup that should work, so I looked over all of my scraps and found a lot of mixed wood and off cuts, I actually had an old piece of ply that I have been keeping for probably 20 years. Over the weekend I just kept adding bits and pieces, typical to form no measurements just from the head and thinking yup I need this, oh yeah that may work etc...

So here is the finished as best it gets anyway BBQ re made into a workbench.

Bit rough around the edges but she is solid and is so much easier on my back, now I just need a seat. Hmm what scrap have I got lol

So if anyone sees a BBQ being thrown out and you have some scrap laying around, this may be a good project. This one cost me nothing. If anyone does one, it would be great to see your variation on it.

Thanks all.

Westaus

I got heaps of stuff lying around the joint and recycling is a great way to deal with it.
Got the same old BBQ myself and now I have something to do on a rainy day. Still reckon those side tables would be useful attached to the sides still.
Thanks for the idea Westaus
Cheers
Brad.....

Good work Westaus, this type projects that are posted on this site which get us all to think about what can be done with old stuff.

Regards Frank

But before I can start that little project I gotta finish the on I started.

This is a AutoCAD inventor model with a rendered background, it is of my 150mm poly pipe trommel I am toying with.
It is up to this stage, just cant get the camera to work.
I scored 4 scooter wheels for the thing to rotate on. Just gotta design a shape to suit the windscreen wiper motor on.
Cheers
Brad....

After fitting my new tyres yesterday I spent most of the day making a new box under the bus to take a couple 20L of water for our new willoughby. I didn't get in until 9:00pm and still have to finish it off this morning so that we can pack and get away today.

I went out at 6:00am to find what I can only imagine is the first of many hundreds of kilos of rocks and a note of approval had somehow made it inside. In a statement of protest I had to add the gold nugget :)

Today I finished my second Pot Belly stove/heater. After taking my first unit out a couple of times I come to the conclusion that it was not portable enough. Although I have youth on my side it is still a touch heavy. So I decided to reduce the size and weight. I also added some accessories to make life a little more luxurious in the bush.
Once I finish the test phase of the pot belly I will the look at a third design which I will consider for production. My aim is to provide those who spend some cold nights camping the ability to cook and keep warm despite location ie caravan parks and weather conditions ie piiing rain!

Outstanding Ryan,

I'd buy either one from you. I believe I raised that very buying topic when you finished the first one last year.

I'm in the triangle for the week if you want to part with one, it will fit in the ute on the way back home. Lol

Hi Lambs
I haven't forgotten, I am working on perfecting the unit. The bigger pot belly is going to the alfresco/BBQ area at home.
As soon as my draftsman is free I will get him to design the unit on cad. I hope to have the pot belly in production soon.
The trouble with prototype products is they are a labour of love. It would hurt to much to let this go at the target retail price.
I introduced an oven door rope seal with this little ripper, I hope that the smoke is nil. If so I will be able to operate in my tent. With some ventilation of course....
I will let you know when the final product is ready.
Cheers Ryan
