Lower emi, mineralised ground seems to become less noisy the cooler it gets, its generally quieter, and the less serious prospectors are asleep or on the grog.
Im usually on the grog whilst detecting of an evening. OH&S priorities hey mate. Gets a bit hairy once the camp fires dwindles out of site.
 
Its a bit like fishing, the best time is the time you can go!
Cooler evenings, mornings and moonlit nights are my preference, I dont like flashing lights about so moonless nights are out, I dont want to be at the bottom of a shaft!
