The best 40th birthday present ever!? Please help a newbie.

Pease help....

We are on our way home from perth to Sydney mid October and I'd like to surprise my gold-fever-mad BF with a bit of easy gold prospecting on the way.

We have ten days and can get a one way camper from alice to Adelaide or Darwin or Brisbane to Sydney.

I'd love to do some fossicking or gold prospecting on the way and even catch a short tour for some tips if there is one.

Anyone know of tours within these regions or any good places to visit for a taster of our new hobby?

Alice to Darwin there's tennant and pine creeks goldfields, almost certain tennant does guided tours, on the other hand Alice to Adelaide and you've got cooper pedy for opals, something that's not as readily accessible as gold fossicking. I've got no personal experience in either of those locations but food for thought.
