My TRX gets about 3cm on a very thin piece of foil wrapper (1.5cm x 0.5cm) on sensitivity setting 3, and about 4cm on sensitivity setting 4. Though on the highest setting the TRX is susceptible to some falsing around electronics and hot ground, setting 3 will usually suffice for general detecting.

Well that one of yours is running hot and is a keeper for sure, I have found that even with the same model of PP's there can be quite a difference and that can be a problem when you buy over the net or in OZ because it's not like you can go and try them out unless you live near by,,

PS:- Wanna Sell It,, Lol

I agree with the depth thing... Deeper is not always better, and you need control.

For many reasons, I have often said teh Whites TRX was my best option, if I had to pick something other than one of the Wader series.

I have noticed that with my PP depending on the metal and the shape really makes a difference to the detection depth, IE a 6mmx6mm piece of baco foil it will pick it up between 5 to 13mm and yet a flat piece 8mm round will signal from 13mm to 30mm,

Yes, size and shape and mass all play apart.. Have seen foil and solid items totally screw up detectors; just due to teh shape, if nothing else. Bloody beaver tails, and if it has been fully or partly folded back over.... TID and Depth get all messed up..

And the smallest 0.19g test bit it will see it at 13mm, which is where the shape issue can become a problem, and on a 0.57g bit it see's it between 20mm out to 52mm.

Thanks for that... I thought you stated that your " PP hits 0.19 (0.2) bits between 25 to 30mm ! "

13mm to 15mm I can understand... And the ones I have here, that perform over 5mm; can be a bit over 10mm to 12 mm but repeatable at 10mm

Thus usage; ie. sifting through trapped stuff etc where your looking for one or more smallish items... Then there are two or three units; that would cut the mustard...

But it is all hypothetical as in most users use PP to hunt coins :D and or dream of chasing gold and only getting stuff into the full grams or even ounces...

PS. Missed a chance to score a Whites TRX the other day... Still kicking my self....

PPS. And quality of Battery and all the conditions all have an impact on how they perform..

PPS. Test with a good quality 9V with > 4 years to use by. Then Test with good quality AA's same brand etc. You should get a better result with one, over the other :D yep and for good reason as well

Whites TRX and Deteknix Wader = only ones to offer 9V or 2 xAA.

Yes I did but that was a thin flat bit which was about 10-12mm across which is why it picked it up so far, So I got a small compact bit of the same weight and lost 50% of the distance, Which is another reason why PP's have such a hard time when used for prospecting,

If you want a TRX let me know and if I can get it cheaper for you I will sort it No worries,

John

THANKS - I will PM you.. Once I can spare a little $$$ - Maybe a swap/trade 8)

Only ever played with one about 12 months ago...

Hence I can not make any real comment on performance first hand (unlike most of teh others) and while I do put the odd plug out for them...

I should own and use one for a while to confirm my facts :)

PS. Try the 9v Vs AA test...

PS, I had to laugh but Nenad reminded me of something where he was saying about using a scoop, Well I have a had a bugger of a job trying to get one over here, Not One Detector shop in the country has one or has even stocked them, So one day I did a deal with a member and they agreed to send me one and I was over the moon, well the days past which turned in to weeks and that member sent me a link saying that it had been delivered so I grabbed the postie and he said that he would look in to it well that was 2 months ago and I have not heard a thing and the post office won't do a thing unless that member puts the wheels in motion in Australia %$# it,

So in the end I had to import one from Minerjohn In the US    Happy days and all is right with the world, lol

I made a small scoop to go onto the Deteknix Pinpointer ???

Yep... Helps, when digging in sand crevices around rocks :) Slides onto the probe and all is good.

PS. Do not bust your chops re the TRX...

After christmas :)
