Hi The Wolf,
Done down around,
Browns camp,
Bendoc,
Tingy Ringy,
Delegate River,
Quidong,
Clarkesville,
and Cathcart.
.
There are some very good producing spots down that way. The best ones are now National Parks.
I am a close friend of the Mustard's in Delegate. I nearly lived there for 6 years and know the area quite well. :)
There is a lot of very solid advise up there mate. You will do well to study it, Research the area's you are interested in
and never, Give up.
As for the Bombala/Snowy River, not to my knowledge has it produced any good shows. Around Cathcart will keep you entertained
for months as it is a very mineralized area with Gold, Tin, Silver, and a lost reef of gold about 8 miles from the township. :)
about 10 Klm's north of Delegate is the start of the main Gold holding area's. I have been looking to suss out one of the pine plantations
for a while now.
There are a lot of spots in your area that will surprise you at times.
Now get out there and enjoy it.

Hey Tathradj, have you done much prospecting around Cathcart/Bombala/Craigie/Delegate/Bendoc areas? I was brought up around Bendoc, and my folks now live north of Cathcart. Just wondering whether the Bombala river (just south of Brown Mtn) produces anything as it runs through my parents' property.

Regards,
M

Maybe a Members meetup near Delegate is in order.
Only in the spring time though.
Hate prospecting in snow and ice.

I was down Cathcart way last weekend helping my oldies. I did manage to sneak out for an early morning dig in the Bombala River, and came away with a few specs in a crevice between to very large rocks. Because the area has tons of those huge granite boulders, which seem to be made up of very course particles, those particles fill and line the river. I had to dig through that stuff until the colour of the sand changed from its normal yellow colour to that grey/green colour. At that point I started to find gold specs. I tried going a tad deeper, but surprisingly didn't get anything. I didn't hit bedrock, because I ran out of time. But happy to say that there is colour there. My next step is to find a better concentration spot rather than a random spot on a fairly straight stretch of river. There are some nice bends and rock bars further upstream and downstream, so I might try there next time. Fun times.
