I just got some info through telstra through our business that there going to offer mobile to satellite through your phone it's only going to be text messages first the later offer voice and low data usage later starlink r involved of course

i was told by a technician (i know him )that was here repairing the junk that telstra calls a land line here
next year all land lines( more than likely rural) will be phased out and will be starlink only done a deal with musk

i asked him how long after this happens will it take telstra to $%$& it all up and he said about 8 months and we will be back to what we have now

we are in a dead spot here if i walk inside the house with the mobile
it drops out straight away and their tower is about 800 meters from the house as the crow flies can not see it but

yes sand surfer, if your in a dead spot it makes phone calls difficult, we have Starlink and it works very well, but you have to be within about 50 metres of the wifi router or the same thing happens a dead spot.

I have no confidence in Telstra, and would not use there Starlink service, ours is just straight Starlink bought it from them and use there service, expensive yes, reliable yes, but have to be within range of the WiFi router to get service, yes

I wonder if the starlink calls will also drop out if you go indoors.

I played with my wife's iphone 15 and had to go outside to connect to the satellites.

I'm looking forward to it. It would be great to send texts when out of phone contact in the bush.

I've heard this rumour re Telstra and Starlink..
However look now, Telstra will only offer a 50 mbps plan over Starlink.
Capacity is going to be the problem for Starlink.

Interesting times ahead for an aging Telstra copper network, a Telstra Velocity Fibre Network sold to Opticom/Unity and FTTP in high/med density area's from NBN.
Starlink with already over 6000 birds in the sky.... folks refused service due to over capacity already in HD area's.

Has anyone used there Starlink during heavy rain or thunderstorm because if it’s anything like fox on satellite you’d be buggered.
I couldn’t image Telstra solely relying on satellite for communications other than its mobile and internet network.

ours works indoors and outside and upto about 50m from the WiFi router, every room in our house has reception from the one WiFi router

yes it works in thunder storms and rain, it has to be exceptionally heavy rain for it to drop out and then only for a minute or so, it really works very well, it is 100% better than the old foxtel or Austar dish on the house roof that if it seen a cloud in the distance was enough to scare it
