Bit of info.
If you are in receipt of a DVA pension, you should receive a group certificate. Whilst you do not have to include the income on your return, there is a small item noted on the group certificate that notes the number of days you are exempt from paying Medicare - it should be 365 if you are on 100% or TPI. Make sure when doing your tax return or tell your accountant so they can claim the 365 exempt days. This obviously only applies if you are earning other income (super etc) that is subject to tax. It is a nice little surprise.
GP co-payment. DVA Have advised that if you use your DVA card you will NOT be subject to the co-payment. If its a gold card - it applies to ALL treatment, if its a white card, it only applies to the specific treatment the white card covers. You cannot be forced to make the payment.
Please tell any old (and not so old nowadays) Veterans of this info - it will save them a bit of $$.
