Here's a head I didn't expect to see on a coin on an isolated tassie beach.

Got the 6" coil from trash last week and took it out for a run on the weekend. Damn, that thing's a 1c sniper! Must have got 20 of the little brown buggers. However, It's really good at pinpointing deep targets and gave me the confidence to check out a nicely manicured town park that gave up plenty of high tone targets and should be good for a few 50% silvers and shrapnel once the ground gets a bit wetter. Also got a few tiny relics from a junky spot I've hammered with the 11" so will be interesting to see what else it comes up with.

The first confimed kill with the 6 " coil. I know I've swung the 11 " over this spot on 'junky beach'. Was still a bit of a jumpy signal but good enough to dig.

Did a bit more park sniping today, got these along with another pocket full of BBs. Haven't come across an advance australia button before.

Cheers, parks with people aren't my preferred spots to detect but I've had to get over my agrophobia cos I've hammered all the sneaky spots round here.

Went for a long weekend camping trip and checked out a couple of old mining towns in the northeast. Think most of the spots had been detected but managed to find a few coins and relics amongst the rusty tin and rubbish. My favorite is the love heart which I think is a horse breast collar badge, possibly from a cavalry bridle.

Found a female relatives badge on the beach this weekend. Issued to wives and mothers of australian servicemen and apparently the number of stars indicates the number of serving relatives, so I assume that this one was issued to a mother with 2 sons who fought for our country. Has a number on the back but can't find any info on who it may have been issued to

Scored a fugly but chunky 9ct ring down the beach today. Think it's got 6 little diamonds in it but you'd want to be wearing your good glasses to see em!

Been doing a bit more research with some help from 7.62 marksmen and it appears that the number refers to the individual medal and the person it was issued to is recorded in the national archives so I'll email them and see if they can find the info. Since it ws issued to a female relative of 2 servicemen I doubt if the number is a service number but thanks for the help. That's a great resource for family history.

Found a few interesting thingys at an 1890s mining townsite yesterday.

Gilt buckle of some sort.
