Thanks Headsup!!! brilliant link. Love Tarnagulla. Can't tell you how many times I have driven past Irvines Reef.

Thanks for all those so interesting photos. Just love to see "how it was". We really enjoyed camping/detecting at Tarnagulla/Dunolly a couple of years ago and hope to go back as part of our 6 months or so away. Found nothing that time except a nice brown snake just where one of our acquaintances had found some quartz with a couple of specs of colour.

Jacko - the area is still producing colour. Yes - it is getting flogged up around the Poverty Reef area, especially since the burn off. The Tarnagulla Caravan park is closed so no go there. the nearest fuel is Dunolly. Laanacorie Lakeside, Dunolly and the Maryborough caravan parks are all still up and running. Wanyarra is still free but it is a strong rumour the state govt is going to start charging for camping - honesty system I guess. Recently there have been a lot of people camped around Wanyarra and in the bush. There are a lot of rumours, as always, of some big finds. Call me a cynic but most reports seem to come through just before major holidays. The majority of full-timers and semi-full-timers are heading out further and further onto new ground when they are having down time from WA. That and trying to get on private property which in my opinion holds out our best hope. Fence jumpers around the area are doing prospectors no favours. Mind you, we are looking for runs of consistent bigger gold and pretty well leave the mullock heaps alone.

The recent operations around the traps have come to a halt - Tarnagulla Gold - closed. The boys up the back of Nuggety Gully - closed. Out opposite Milk Maids - closed. Dunolly Gold Development -closed, but the worlds biggest mullock heap remains. The 5000s seem to be doing quite well on smaller gold especially on mullock heapsand I am quite surprised at what they find and it all adds up. Some really nice retired folk getting around the traps who are having a crack and doing Ok as well. Its good for them health wise and good for the local towns. I retire soon so I guess that includes me!

Try around Ironbark Gully in front of the dam have always managed to find colour there even 2 weeks ago couple of grams in total small bits but it does all add up.
