Hi all, Looking to start a new chapter in our lives. I'm a builder on the mid north coast & it's time for a change. We are gearing up to be itinerant hunters & gatherers, working where I find it & enjoying the beautiful country as we find it. Well that's the dream anyway....:) Practically the change will start after July... frankly winter away from a known cosy bed scares me atm, so it will be a spring start...As for equipment well that's where you come in.. I need lots of advise! We did do the camp thing with 2 young children a life time ago so now it's almost like a new thing. Anyway it's good to be involved with this site & look forward to lot's of interesting posts. bill

G'day Bill, welcome. Wish I could chuck the gear and swag in the ute and travel good ol oz for a while, too many bills, not enough gold to pay them at the moment. Good luck :) Mick

Bugger the swag Mick..

Welcome the forum Bill ...go out and live the dream mate and I'm sure you won't regret it ...All the advice you need can be searched within the pages of this forum, and ongoing advice is only a Question away... best of luck on the adventure and keep us all informed ...Cheers Wal. :)

thanks all for your replies, I think I have a bit of adventure in the blood. Never happy in 1 place for long, grew up in N.G. for 13years & went to several schools. Dad finished up retiring at 45 & got so bored until he started digging holes at the ridge. Lots of colour but no big one. Mean while I went travelling the world. The marriage & kids, kinder slows you down! Now Australia, in my opinion, having seen 30+ countries is the best all round, hands down! So it,s time to check out home ground.
We are pretty much starting at zero needing to gear up with... I like to always start at the top but I find I cant always afford it!.. I would like to have a 4wd but I have a 1ton 2wd d/s ute... going to have to do...need to buy a trailer.. & the most important, a detector.. of course a GPX5000 (did I tell you I like to start at the top?) I need to get some training to use the thing...is there anyone on or near the mid north coast that can give some lessons?
regards Bill

Gedday and welcome Blink Bill .. Head north for the winter and let us know when your in the area .. Good luck and good on you mate .. Hope to see you around the ridges.
