Hi all, we just got back from our trip to Bemm River and whilst there I went for a crevice in a creek about half way between Bemm River and Club Terrace in the middle of the bush.
Anyways before leaving I decided to give the MXT Pro a swing just back from the creek as there were some gutter like low spots and plenty of mixed quartz, granite and bedrock pieces laying about. There was 1 piece of red granite looking rock that just kept giving a strange signal so I took it back to camp to video and put it out to you more experienced guys as to what it is that's making the signal, no ID is showing as the video shows so it's more a curiosity thing for future reference.

Here is what it looks like broken open, the rock was hard to break if that's any help.

Pete, That's a Hot Rock, Try pumping the coil up and down over it a hit the Grab Button and see what happens when you sweep over it again, Ok

i asked a question about this exact thing not long ago, the ground i was in its everywhere...no good for the x-terror

Thanks guys, I understand it's hot but confused as to why the detector wouldn't give an ID, normally hotrocks show as Hotrocks and give a VDI, the signal is different to anything else too.
Anyway, was just curious as to why and it seems my MXT is as confused as I am.

Old trick Pete.........break the rock into halves or quarters as it looks like you have already done!

Separate each piece and detect them individually.

If you get the same signal from each piece its hot rock, if one piece is sounding and gives an ID whist the others remain quiet, it could be something more!

Good luck mate.

;)

Well, it's a hot rock. All 6 pieces are sounding off on the pin-pointer, it still doesn't explain why my detector doesn't see it as a hot rock when normally it picks up hot rocks while detecting, either way it's a hot rock and another contribution to the garden bed.
Thanks for the help guys.
