space junk, not meteor (last night)

anyone see this? reported this morning it was space junk. The UFO theorists are having a field day. Government conspiracy got a run as well. I guess Andrew Bolt will blame the ALP?

I saw a shooting star/ space junk when i was camping at Oberon by myself- it made an awesome sound as it burnt up. Pretty spectacular.

I saw a similar reentry of space junk over the northern Tanami in the mid nineties. From memory it was an old satellite that had slowly drifted out of orbit, you could see all the different colours of the materials being burnt up on reentry, and could even hear it must have been reasonably close.

It was probably one of those poxy old Globalstar satellites that screwed up their sat network.

They recon it landed somewhere near Cobar.
