Gidday Guys and gals,
I have been prospecting at a work mates property for a few days last week. I have been parking beside the dirt road beside his land.
Yesterday after parking there I walked around the front of my bullbar and felt a shooting pain trough my left foot. Sat down on the ground beside my front wheel and on inspection found a steel rod hanging out the bottom of my boot. At the same time I noticed steel rods sticking out of the wheel beside me. I pulled the rod out of my foot, removed my boot ad I was bleeding like a stuck pig !
Long story short, some arsehole had hammered at least 18 chainsaw files point up into the ground, leaving about 2 inches showing, where I have been parking. Result, one completely trashed $320 tyre, right front flat but repairable and a hole in my foot. Reported to the police but not much they can do.
I suspect one of the adjacent property owners has had a problem with fence jumpers, but that sort of booby trap is just over the top.
Thankfully the rod did not go all the way through my foot.
See attached pics.
cheers,
Rick

Dam Rick...someone really does not want you anywhere near there.

There was a case down here with illegal pig shooters setting up stakes on bush tracks to stop law abiding citizens from going near their hunting grounds...absolutely atrocious!

Hope your foot heals up soon enough, I would be staking the joint out and confronting the twit with a chainsaw file studded baseball bat

Yep, I would sort em out real quick,

I thought that ALL MAN TRAPS were highly illegal ?

" Reported to the police but not much they can do. "

And if a Horse or other innocent person came by...

Sounds more like a very TARGETED ATTACK, if I was cynical....

The spikes were lined up in my wheel marks to trash my tyres. I didn't line up exactly the same yesterday, which is why the one I stood on was just beside the wheel.
There is no question they were placed to target my vehicle as I'm about 10 metres off the track close to my work mates fence, and its highly unlikely anyone else would have been affected as the track is only used by a few local farmers.

Cheers,
Rick

Maybe they don't like your workmate and were targeting him but instead they got You??

Nah, no chance. He would never park his vehicle outside his fence.

There is no question that someone has seen me in there and targeted my vehicle out of spite or whatever !
As this dirt road is only a km long and used by a few locals, it has to be one of the opposite property owners.
The paddock opposite was being ploughed during the few days the missus and I were out there, so he would have seen us in my mates paddock.
Just open sheep and hay paddocks , no dope plantations !

Cheers,
Rick

Either way you slice it, You don't deserve that type of BS, Aye

The problem is that the cops aren't going to look into it any further. Considering its such an isolated attack they can't really do anything more than a door knock which they probably won't.
That sort of behaviour, the kind that effects my well being and also costs me money (you in this case) is the kind that would make me take action. I would be knocking on the doors or speaking to the farmers myself. With a very effective weapon on hand. If I could determine who did this I would most definitely take the law into my own hands and severely hurt this individual. I know this is stooping to their level however its the only way to stop people like this. I know this isn't necessarily the right thing to do however I could not resist after such treatment.
Hope you heal up quick mate.

Unfortunately fellas taking the law into your own hands can only end up causing more problems than it solves, as satisfying as a bit of " rough justice " is !
Proving who did this is near on impossible.
One thing for sure, next time I park there I will give the ground the once over with the detector before parking ! It won't stop me going there because I have permission.
Thanks for the kind words fellas.

Cheers,
Rick
