Supposed to say J.E.B under Queen victorias Bust(Melbourne mint mark),... but looks like yours says C.B Cheese,.... hang on to it tight buddy,... the book says(2010 guide) "053 1899 P Pattern only one example known" that's for half sovereign,.... everything else would have to have the Melbourne mint mark, surely.

I wonder what type of car that hub is off.?
and another brooch, It is rare that I find items after say 1920
in this area, im still thinking the German brooches are pre ww1
decoration brooches.

Pretty sure I can see a faint "M" for Melbourne, on the strip of ground above the the "8" & "9" of 1899.

Melbourne 1899 half sov at 2010 prices fine $220., very fine $400., extra fine $1500.,aunc $3750., unc $7500., choice unc $13000., gem $18000., proof $125000.
even though you have good high points, the queens head has suffered a pretty greivious drag mark and it has slight rim damage in a few places on the same side, with a couple being more than bag marks.george and the dragon look pretty good, just a bit of a scuff on the rim on the left side, and a fair bit of circulation marks going on,.... probably got jiggled around with other coins while travelling on horseback,.... so that will all detract from the price of the coin,... at the 2010 prices(myself) I would put it somewhere between $400-$1500 area,.... but I'm not an expert valuer and prices could vary between then and now,... and of course a dealer would want to have a bit in it for himself too, so they would be a bit lower on their prices,....it says the weight is 3.9940 grams and the pure gold content is .1177 oz.
I could be way off the mark as well and your coin could be worth more,.... I'd ask a reputable dealer, and say I'm not interested in selling, I just want to know the rough value for insurance purposes, that way they will give you a proper estimate instead of their" this is what I want to buy it at price'.
