Any science behind the broken/less clear signal I receive with my nox particularly on $2 coins that are on the surface and only lightly covered? The same used to happen with the deus and the Aldi! I get a scratchy (but enough to pull u up) signal with right id numbers then the pin pointer booms and waddya know its on the surface! Anyone found the same? My plan is to start pulling the coil up on these sounds to see if it get that nice clear round coin sound.

I have that problem with my nox and if I lift up a bit and tilt the coil slightly will get a different sound and better signal evan slow pass over the target sometimes helps if its a weak or funny sounding signal

The machine is telling you a lot of info. because of so many different variables of coin angle , position of where you are swinging , soil
Etc.

I always get a loud sharp double beep on surface goldies..Only time I have had that problem is if it's a coin spill.Could be your settings.

My 705 with the 15" Minelab coil and the 13x10" Mars both hate sunbakers and very shallow goldies. Broken ugly signals. The small stock coils and the Mars sniper eliptical coil work fine though.

This is just...
My poor old GT16000 did this.
Over Loaded on surface targets.
Bells, Whistles, You name it.
Lead washers drove me crazy but it would fart
on any thing steel.
I can put a coin on a solid piece of steel and wave it over the whole lot.
And still pick the coin no worries.
I loved waving the coil in a Pub and the rio rods come through no worries.
DIT, DIT, DIT,DIT. ( Machine Gun. )
Get them to hide a coin under the carpet and take a dare.
I won many slabs for that one. ;)
I detected a lot of old house sites with that machine.
And could pick a coin or lead washer out no problems.
Tin foil, Well yes, Had a rather broken edge to it but I still dug it any way.
Brass, Copper, Very loud signal.
Gal iron, Blow your ear drums out.
Then fart on rusty edges.
That one caught me out again...
Gold, Very, Very mellow sound.
Hot rocks, Mellow one way, Nothing the other.
But I would still dig it any way to be proven wrong.
.
So folk's, Since 1987, what has changed. ???

My Explorer is like that. I can usually call every find before I dig it.

Last week same again this time I took more notice. Signal tone a little broken...popped a $2 coin but stopped as soon as I saw it still 2cm into the grass, laying flat to the surface - patted the grass back to the way it was and played with different frequencies all for the same signal. Retrieved the 2 bucks, buried it in the same orientation 2 feet away and clear multi beep coin sound. The other $19 worth of goldies in the same area were all clear...might head back and see what else was above/below or right next to the broken signal...I forgot to run over it in all metal and am thinking certain trash might be masking the signal. It would be nice to be able to directly upload video here without having to YouTube it and post the link. Not complaining about the nox just something I come across now and then:)

Settings wise for coins I am normally freq 15, park 1 with only targets 21&22 not discriminated (may be the issue). Recovery rate turned up, max sens.

That's your issue right there mate..I use 20 21 and 22 very rarely is a Goldie 23 but can sometimes be 20...and if your going to use that setup use multi...Works for me..Always nice double beeps on shallow goldies ..And softer single beeps on deep ones.
