Hi guys. My name is Scott'O'. Been detecting on and off for a couple of years and really enjoy it. I currently use a Garrett AT Gold and the girly uses a Teknetics G2.
I've been looking to get a decent PI machine without breaking the bank and am looking at the Whites SPP or TDI Pro. With the recent price hikes I'm probably going to buy used. My question regarding the Whites is would either of these detectors be fine for what I am after...I live near the Golden Triangle in Vic? Also, regarding the Tesoro, I was thinking of one for my girlfriend as she is really struggling getting her head around operating the G2 and thinks she would rather a simpler point and shoot detector. She doesn't care much for numbers on an LCD as she thinks they lie anyway..haha. Weight is also a big factor as she is small. Any advise would be much appreciated. Cheers...and happy hunting :)

Welcome Scott'o! All the whites machines do pretty good for a budget the PI's handle the ground a lot better than the VLF's do and the SPP makes a great turn on no frills machine... You have lots to read on this forum and I have a few of those machine if you want to meet up for a test run' get your ten posts up and PM a few members that have the machines your looking at to see what they think, good luck!

Hello Zuke, thanks for your reply. I can pick up a TDI Pro for about $1500. The guy bought it from Goldsearch back in 2011. Do you think, for the price, It would be better to go with that over the SPP? I read a lot of forums and watch a lot of you tube vids so I don't think I would have too much trouble learning and operating it.

$1500 is a reasonable price they don't take much learning to get going but to advance any further it's all in the time spent playing with settings etc... There's a few of us with TDI's and your welcome to meet up and have a play first' considering the SPP is now $1550 ? The TDI pro is possibly a better option at $1500 s/h, tho I also could round up a SPP for $1000 they do run very smooth.
