A Miners hut on our block which was a rental.

So far have kicked in the ceilings, stripped the house of all plaster, wiring and plumbing [which has been replaced]

Removed all floors, replaced the stumps, bearers, joists then a new yellow tongue floor.

Repaired all windows, made one into a bay window.

Now slowly replacing all weatherboards and front verandah.

This will ultimately be spare bedrooms, apart from the whisky room.

After we finish this have a 180m2 extension, currently with the architect.
I'll update this thread as we move along different stages.

How did you get the walls so clean IE removing all that render and what time frame did it take
Beautiful job by the way

Thats coming up a treat redfin. It must have been quite a comfortable residence back when first built (1870s) I wonder how many makeovers its had before you? Did you find anything interesting in the walls or under the floor?

Mrs Redfin used a 4 inch bolster and a hammer, took her 6 weeks.
Then wire brush.
Then pressure washed, applied hydrocloric acid, pressure wasshed again - repeat 4 times.

Never mind the messy Scott Cam stuff, what's this about a 'whisky room'? Inquiring minds and all that... ;)

The original cottage was the brick room, we have put in a nice fireplace and have ordered 2 New York Club Chairs and a couple of Chesterfield
couches.
I am making a liquor cabinet out of the old floor boards.
Room will contain no media, only a small bar fridge and an ice machine.

Room is only to be used for happy hour/hours.

The original hut [ the brick structure was built in the 1870's] was purchased in the 1890's by the Dunolly Temperance League.

The Education Dept purchased it in 1945 and extended the front [2 bedrooms and a bathroom]

When we replacing the stumps in the "new" bit, found many pennies on them.

example of the a stump in the "old" bit.

Hats off to you and Mrs Redfin..... an absolute bonza job you're both doing.

I love indoor brickwork as a feature, grew up with that from a young lad. :D

I can imagine being drunk enough to knock on that door from the inside.... and waiting to be greeted. :p
