Back to the place where the road is going to be widened. Managed to rescue a few more coins.

Yet another Texan Jnr pistol rises from the depths, you must have a few of those by now Rod. The union badge is also a nice bit of history. :)

Be a well sought after badge even in that condition by the year 2173.

Same union I am in now. The train drivers union ( Australian Federated Union of Locomotive Enginemen) was absorbed by the TWU and became the Rail, Tram & Bus Union. Worse thing we ever did as we had desk jockeys and other non shift workers voting on our conditions that didn't affect them.
There would be guys at work who would know the person that owned the badge if could get a name.

All credit for today's finds goes to Rocket. A couple of days ago he told me about a spot where the council are diggin holes again. I went over this arvo and scanned all the piles of dirt left by the digging. A 20 cent piece on the surface 3 metres from the car was a good sign. All the pre decimals but the undatable penny came from the dirt dug up by the council. The 1879 six pence was just 1 cm under the surface. A couple of bits of glass show the age of the site and I love the mini horse shoe which was a surface find.

Thanks Rocket :D

Go gentle on the 1948 sixpence, sharpish star and lots of feathers, recon it's got good coin potential written all over it.
nice old silver there, great looking hunt. :p 8) :D

That was a good tip from Rocket, good on him. Did anyone put a complaint in regarding the council digging holes? :D Jokes aside, you scored well on the ring and the pair of sixpences, the site looks to have some good age to it. :)

Nice work
A couple of shiney ones too :D
I believe the horse shoe is actually from the heal of a persons shoe
I have found many of them while digging bottles
Not quite sure where they were used exactly but suppose used for the same purpose ... To prevent wear

Top hunt Rod, some nice finds recovered. I think the little horse shoe may actually be a boot cleat or something similar, you find them regularly in the goldfields.
