Re photo copies - I bought mine online, I printed it on my laser printer, I would defy any Ranger to tell the difference between it and a photo copy.

Don't sign the original and use blue pen on a copy, no problem. Like I said, I printed 6 copies from the PDF and can sign each individually.

Never been approached by a Ranger or even seen one when in victoria. But in Mt Crawford in the Adelaide Hills, they are always around. They know me so never ask for my permit, but often stop for a chat.

A copy of your on-line Vic Miners Right is OK as that's how the majority of people are getting them anyway. The Rangers and Parks people seem to be concentrating on illegal fire-wood gathering, repairing rain damaged tracks and getting ready for back-burning at the moment. Chatting to them, they seem more concerned with trail bikes going 'off-road' at the moment. Also, vandalism of bee-hives seems to be on the rise as well. Overall, I have found them over the years to be friendly and as long as the rules are obeyed, they are fine. They know most of us by sight and they have a sort of 'forest watch' going on where they ask about noxious weed sightings, dumped rubbish and the like. In reality, there is not that many of them.
