Hey guys, just curious what the best pump option for my 8 inch high banker would be. Including hose and battery. :argh:

Hi Buck 11, u could try a bilge pump off eBay 3700gph 40mm pipe size its only $60. Works well and runs for few hours off 40AH battery.

G'Day Buck

I have run a 10 inch highbanker using a 2,000gph bilge pump and 38mm hose from Bunnings - the black flexible ridged stuff. Works very well. Invest in a deep cycle marine battery and a good charger

Cheers mate, thanks for that ?

Anyone know if its necessary to wire a fuse in between the 12v pump and battery? The destruction manual for the rule pump i got recomend a fuse on the pos and neg wires. Have bever seen mention of it in any forum threads so far though.wondering if i ahould bother or not?

Hmm two conflicting suggestions. Better toss a coin then. Haha. But seriously, the cheap bastatds could include fuses if they r necessary. Ah well, back to the shops then i guess..
Cheers guys :Y:

@buck i ordered one of those cheapie voltax plus 100ah lifepo4 batteries ($650) to run on the setup. Bit of a gamble on the brand. Out of all of the under 1k 100ah choices it was the only one to be weatherproof and have a battery meter. Uses prismatic cells. Weighs in at only 9.5kg. Found good and bad writing aboit them. It ended up being a choice between the voltax or an enerdrive which has reputation but is a mere $1500 for a 100a/h.
If its up to spec it ahoild run a 3700gph pump for about 5-6 hours with juice to spare. Should get a massive 10 hours on the 2000gph pump.
Can also tip theae batteries on any angle so easy to plop into a backpack with the 10kg weight.
Look forward to testing it out

Looks a bit more complicated than a battery as a tradeoff for a small saving. A bit more awkward to transport panels too. For my situation ii need battery ppwer as sometimes i like to sluice at night or in the kitchen
The solar panel market seems to be a bit suspect/hit and miss, unless you spend big dollars for proven brands. Similar to the lifepo4 dropin market
